Welcome to Chatham Cheerleading!
Chatham Youth Cheerleading - open to all Chatham residents in grades 4 through 8 during school year 2019-2020.
The goals of the Chatham Youth Cheerleading program are to develop confidence, leadership, good sportsmanship and to foster a sense of community pride. Our program encourages each cheerleader to have fun, do their best and work as a team.
Cheerleaders are expected to cheer at ALL football games (home and away, rain or shine) during the season. Games are usually played on Sundays, beginning September 15 and ending October 27. Game times are TBA. The Playoffs and Superbowl are in November.
Coaching will be provided by Chatham High School Varsity Cheerleaders and supervised by certified parent volunteers. At least two certified parent managers are required for each squad. Certification consists of a background check and participation in
the Rutgers Safety Training Course.
Practices are usually held one evening per week during September and October, and on Sunday prior to game time. Each teams practice schedule will be finalized by the parent managers. We expect a preseason clinic to be held on September 5th.
Uniforms are purchased separately through the Chatham Sports Shop (information will be provided). A full uniform is approximately $120 and pom-poms $30. An optional cheerleading hooded jacket may be ordered for $50 (recommended). Footwear should be a white, lightweight, stable sneaker (not Keds or Chuck Taylors). Grades 4, 5 and 6 have new uniforms. For grades 7 and 8, you may purchase new uniforms or participate in the uniform swap/hand-down available through a SignUp Genius.
A Cheerleading Showcase, featuring all Youth and CHS cheerleaders, is planned for the fall.
