Skill Development & Mission

Mission Statement: To safely teach the basic skills of football in a fun environment emphasizing sportsmanship, self-esteem, and healthy competition. Our goals are to have fun, exhibit great sportsmanship, be great teammates, hustle, and never give up!

Skill Development: The Chatham High School coaching staff has put together a developmental skill program geared toward younger players to build fundamentals. Many of the drills, warm-ups, formations, and terminology are the same used across Chatham football from 3rd grade through 12th grade, allowing all players to play every position.

Equipment & Shunpike Turf Rules

  • Required Equipment: A mouthpiece is required at every session. Molded cleats are strongly recommended.
  • Turf Rules: Shunpike Field (58 Shunpike Rd) is a water-only turf facility; gum, sunflower seeds, and sports drinks are not permitted on the turf.
  • Other Club Fields: See our field locations guide for Lum Field Complex (tackle practice) and Cougar Field (tackle games & cheer).
